ABOUT FUMEZOMBIE
FUMEZOMBIE (aka Steve Banbury) contributed two tracks to 2003's metal.machine music and has recently completed his debut machine.records album, Amongst Unequals, released on November 8th 2004. Over the last year, FUMEZOMBIE has regularly been heard playing out his own brand of twisted electro-funk at SOUNDBYTES and TERMINAL (Journeys, Cardiff). His last appearance was at Terminal (bSb, Cardiff) on October 21st with ORCOP and DIESELFITTER.

GAIR RHYDD: The words 'underground' and 'electronica' are usually far more indicative of white boys with laptops glitching Robbie so he's dancing on the R-R Radio. Here though, Stephen Banbury constructs ridiculously awesome tunes that are as much influenced by, oh, I don't know, every piece of music ever, as they are fantastically in tune with the now. That's not to say it's cluttered; frequently it's a sparse affair which indicates only what might have been before without ever becoming committed. Akufen's My Way is in the same field as is Aphex Twin, but if you don't know who they are, no matter, as this is quite unlike any record you'd have heard before. 9/10	NOEL GARDNER: If you listen hard enough to Amongst Unequals you might hear echoes of, well, pretty much any moment in the history of recorded sound. The listener's perception is crucial and subjective, so dense with reference and layering are these 11 tracks. 'The Miner's Angel' is cut-up, syrup-slow dub electronics like Sabres Of Paradise used to do so beautifully. Conversely, 'Grizzler' is raging glitch-heavy techno which will slay anyone into Speedy J or Mouse On Mars.
