After the resound-ing success that saw Sweden's Andreas Tilliander, Ola Bergman and Depford based Pest blow the fans from the ceilings and the punters from their candle lit tables back in June, September 11th 2005 will see Seed Records return to help curate another 8 hours worth of audio/visual tomfoolery at the Spitz, this time serving up yet more exciting UK exclusives with a very Gallic flavour indeed.

AKASHA (WALL OF SOUND)
LANGAGE COMPUTER

A woman who needs no introduction, Chantal Passamonte aka Mira Calix will co-headline this special event in conjunction with The Brick Lane Festival. Having dj'ed all over the world for the past ten years alongside the likes of such electronic legends as Derrick May and Aphex Twin, she is no stranger to playing the biggest raves nor the more idiosyncratic festivals and club spaces that this planet has to offer. Resident in both London and Sheffield's infamous Blech nights hosted by her label Warp, her vast, unique and always delightful musical taste has seen her open for bands as diverse as Autechre, Faust, Radiohead and Godspeed You Black Emperor. Recently, she played a Radio 1 Breezeblock Session with, New York's uber cool, ESG. Tonight, however, fresh off a live date with Alexander's Dark Band at the Ravello Festival in Italy and a blinding show at Norberg's infamous mineshaft festival, Mira Calix is here to entertain you with what is sure to be an enthralling, textured and highly personal mix.

Not ones for passing up the opportunity of some audio terrorism, the first of our Gaul invaders this evening are those twins of perpetual evil, Jean-Baptiste and Frederic Hanak. Hailing from Paris, these brothers grim are signed to a label that optimises screwed up beats and noise and is also home to the drill and bass of Venetian Snares and the acid of fellow Cornish-French hybrid, Luke Vibert. The label is Planet Mu and the man at the helm of it, Mike Paradinas, aptly says of one of his most coveted acts, 'i don't know how to describe their sound.' They are of course (or bien sur), dDamage, purveyors of inexplicable sonics and onstage acts of violence. Tonight, is a UK exclusive and a rare live show for the deadly duo who will be embarking on their European tour shortly afterwards. Prepare yourself for the unknown, as the boys rework past classics from their storming debut album, 'Reverbreak This Beat Down,' to modern masterpieces as heard on their critically acclaimed, 'Radio Ape.' This is one show not to be missed.

Strange, emotive and a truly immortal pairing of the sonically insane, Akasha will also be gearing up to please the punters during this special festival day, recently having honed their talents in yet another successful Glastonbury appearance. Having released on the highly influential Wall Of Sound imprint back in the 90's with their now legendary debut album 'Cinematique,' which included guest appearances from none other than Neneh Cherry and Maxi Jazz, this coupling have continued to conjure up a steady stream of ground breaking material that has effortlessly fused tripped out electronics and ambient music to such a high degree that not only did they enter the major league of what may be termed the jazzadelic scene, they almost single handily invented it. Now, when not purveying their own unique brand of lounge from their superb Ra Recordings, the boys still manage to find time write TV music, globe trot the festival circuit and get involved in remix projects involving artists from The Specials, Basement Jaxx and Death in Vegas to name but a few. Oh, and Charlie most recently played guitar with David Axelrod at his only UK concert in 25 years. One could say these gents are busy. Catch them while you can.

Flanking the battalion on this night of crazy are another French partnership, (John Bloug and Detect) who'll fully deconstruct a musical genre before your very eyes and ears that may have initially been classified as hip hop, but sure as hell won't be afterwards. Impregnating and cultivating their very own breed of mutated rough tough beats and spiky samples out of the very essence of urban block party breaks, Langage Computer will demonstrate the true art of turntabalism as they marry the dj's most prized plastic possessions with the hard wiring of the synthetic era. Beyond reproach, abstract and drug addled, a true blend of styles, motives and paradigms, this super fresh and edgy act will set out to make damn sure the audience are left bewildered, infused and above all entertained. Who knows? They may even treat you to what can only be described as an epic 26 minute piece that was quick to be embraced by the digital dawn and has since become the subject of cyber space legend.

Ra, one of the continents most exciting illustrators of modern times, is probably best known for his skewed and freakish cartoon takes on the everyday norm that is the human being and its various animal offshoots. Grotesque, wry and devilishly unique, this gents pictures, animations and videos have graced everything from album covers (most notably for Salt Lake based imprint Core Dump) to magazines and televisions across Europe and the US. Whilst his burgeoning body of graphic art continues to grow like a colourful cancer across the fruitful French plains and industrial landscapes (a graphic novel is in the pipeline no less), Raoul Sinier has recently started a foray into the world of electronica with not unsurprising results. Australia's highly influential Inpress Magazine called his album, 'inspired and original...[he] delights in having the needle in the red,' whilst America's Slutmag raved about his beautifully blended melodies and jazz timings, Staticbeats sounded it, 'a tough kick in the stomach.' If you want to hear material from this very self assured and difficult debut, 'Raoul Loves You,' given the live treatment like an electric shock up a corpse's je ne sais quoi and i strongly suggest you do, then tonight's your night.

Finally, it is with great pleasure to introduce the second half of the Celt uprising in the form of 2004 Welsh Music Award Winner for Best Label, Machine Records. Sonic death rays will stream from the valleys as innocents run from their villages and the perilous clutches of those who lay siege to them. For the first part of the day's events three masters of the electronic new wave, Superimpozer, Lifting Gear Engineer and Jethro Baghust, will descend from the mother ship that is Cardiff and provide a truly exceptional feast of ground breaking electronica as fresh and as pure as the virgin valley from which they sprung from. Having garnered a cult following through a series of radio transmissions including the John Peel Show and OneMusic on Radio 1 and Radio 3's, 'Mixing It,' the label was quick to start showcasing their talent up and down the British Isles which has seen their audio value escalate and culminate in a sequence of shows in London. Today the sound of the true underground is back for your listening pleasure.

And, as ever, the veritable Seed Records DJ's in their various shapes and guises will be on hand to guide the festival through the day. Expect the unexpected and some very special guests.
